Highest Competitive Award The top three fencers in each age category will receive a trophy. Age categories include Youth-10, Youth-12, and Youth-14. I. General Rules I-1. The Central Coast Youth Circuit (CCYC) will consist of three to five Youth competitions scheduled for the fencing season. I-2. The fencing season lasts from August thru July of the following year. I-3. All competitions will be held on the central coast of California. As sponsor of the circuit championship, the CCFF will determine which events will be included. I-4. At the end of the season, the fencers who participated in the most number of Circuit events will be awarded an Attendance prize. Attendance points are described below. I-5. Competitive trophies will also be given to the top three fencers in each age category according to the sum of the points earned at the Circuit events. Competition points are described below. II. Eligibility II-1. USFA membership is required. A non-competitive membership is sufficient. II-2.
Age requirements shall correspond to recognized USFA age requirements.
However, no age overlaps will be allowed.
II-3. Fencers that have been ejected (“black carded) from any Circuit event will be disqualified from receiving Attendance and Competitive awards in the current fencing season. Fencers may submit a written appeal of this decision to the CCFF Board. III. Format III-1.
All events will use be run as electric foil. The host organizer should
make available for a small rental fee all needed electric fencing gear. III-2.
All events require electric foil masks which include the conductive
material on the bibs. III-3. Y-14 direct elimination events will be run to 15 touches. Y-12 and Y-10 direct elimination events will be run to 10 touches. IV. Scoring IV-1. For every circuit competition the fencer participates in, they will receive one Attendance Point. Should the fencer participate in multiple events of the same competition, only one Attendance Point shall be awarded. IV-2. The Attendance Award will go to the fencer or fencers with the highest number of points. If there are four competitions in the circuit then a maximum score would be 4 Attendance Points. IV-3. Competitive Award scoring for the circuit championship will be based upon Competitive Points earned at each of the circuit competitions. Only the top three results for each fencer will be counted. IV-4. Competitive Points will be based on a modified Olympics point system: 1st 64 points 2nd 48 points 3rd 32 points* 4th 28 points 5th 20 points 6th 18 points 7th 16 points 8th 14 points 9th 11 points 10th 10 points 11th 9 points 12th 8 points 13th 7 points 14th 6 points 15th 5 points 16th 4 points 17th thru 32nd 2 points 33rd thru 64th 1 point
IV-5. Should a competition not fence off for third place, then the third place fencers will receive an equal portion of the points for 3rd and 4th place (or 30 points). IV-6. Depending on the number of fencers in the specific age category for the competition, a factor will be multiplied against the fencer’s competitive placement points to arrive at a total competitive points score for the fencer. The following is a table of competition factors: Competition Factor 7 or less fencers competition factor = 1 8 – 13 fencers competition factor = 1.2 14 – 20 fencers competition factor = 1.5 21 – 32 fencers competition factor = 1.8 Greater than 32 fencers competition factor = 2 IV-7. If two or more age groups are combined, the results of the competition shall be broken out by each age category for determining competitive points.
